Civil Protection of the regional Government of Catalonia chose Nitricomax’s facilities to perform a chemical emergency simulation exercise as part of the activities of the External Emergency Plan of the Tarragona Chemical Sector (PLASEQTA).
Today at 10:00 hours, a chemical emergency simulation exercise (nitrous vapour leak) took place at Nitricomax’s facilities in the chemical park in La Canonja, under the coordination of the Civil Protection authorities of the regional Government of Catalonia.The simulation exercise was part of the regular activities carried out under the External Emergency Plan of the Tarragona Chemical Sector (PLASEQTA) to test the response procedures and equipment of the different Administration bodies responsible for intervening in such situations (the regional police, firemen, medical emergency systems, etc.).
As one of the enterprises in the catchment area of said plan, Nitricomax cooperated with the Administration in performing the simulation exercise, in the same way other companies such as Dow Chemicals, Repsol, CLH, Clariant, o Carburos Metálicos have done in the past. The exercise also gave Nitricomax an opportunity to demonstrate the perfect working conditions of its own protocols and procedures in the area of safety and its coordination with the Administration bodies.
The outcome of the simulation exercise was to the full satisfaction of all the parties involved, and demonstrated that in a hypothetical situation like the one simulated in the exercise, all the mechanisms are in place to respond in a coordinated, quick and efficient manner from all the spheres, both from the company and Civil Protection of the regional Government of Catalonia.
