Press room - News - MAXAM is awarded the “Safety Plus 2017” prize by the Spanish Chemical Industry Business Federation (FEIQUE)
The Company's production facilities in Galdácano (Vizcaya) have been awarded this prize thanks to a zero accident rate over 2016
The prize awarded by FEIQUE, the business organization which promotes the expansion and competitive development of the chemical industry in Spain, is a recognition of the safety work developed by
MAXAM and the results it has achieved at its Galdácano plant. The accident rate at these facilities -more than 370 employees working there- was zero during 2016. The culture of safety and the implementation of Leading Safety and Life Saving Rules initiatives in the plant have been key to achieving this zero accident rate in the workplace.
At the awards ceremony held yesterday in Madrid, Andrea Sánchez, the Occupational Health & Safety Director at
MAXAM, said that
“this prize shows the practical results of the safety management model followed in MAXAM, which we are progressively implementing throughout our organization on a global scale. A corporate policy which is highly demanding and which counts on the active involvement of all employees in order to achieve zero accidents."
MAXAM's facilities in Galdácano, where Alfred Nobel founded the company in 1872, are dedicated to producing initiation systems and energetic products, fundamentally for blasting solutions which the company offers to mines, quarries and construction projects all around the world. The factory is also used by
MAXAM to produce sports and hunting cartridge components, an activity in which it is also a world leader.
