MAXAM has chosen to use electronic detonators to demolish the silo at the old sugar factory in Ciudad Real, which closed in 2006. This is the first demolition using this initiation system in Spain.
Ebro Foods, the owner of the property, decided on demolition and commissioned the company Voladuras, Demoliciones y Reciclados S.A. (VyD) to carry out the work. VyD requested the advice of MAXAM to choose the most appropriate initiation and sequencing system to demolish the old sugar factory. Although VyD had initially chosen a mixed system, MAXAM suggested the use of electronic detonators. MAXAM and VyD decided on the details together. MAXAM professionals oversaw the programming, detonator connection and blasting, and the work was clean and complete.
