FIMA attendees were able to know MAXAM CPEA’s full range of products and blasting services first hand. Products including non-electrical detonators or the cartridged Riogel KUPULA hydrogel, explosives capable of being employed both for open pit and underground mining operations, as well as a wide variety of initiation systems (electronic detonators, electric detonators, detonating cords, etc).
Among the innovations that most attracted the attention of those who visited the MAXAM stand was the Rioflex bulk explosive, the manufacturing of which takes place in two phases. A matrix is produced in MAXAM CPEA’s Luanda facilities and subsequently sensitized onsite as the product is loaded at the blast front.
Rioflex stands out because its versatility, adaptable to extreme conditions, with low smoke generation, high energetic potential, its excellent performance even in aquatic environments, and the ease with which this very versatile product can be used in the loading of boreholes. Developed by MAXAM, this product was first used in 1998, and has since been employed in all sorts of circumstances, from Siberia’s -40º to sub-Saharan Africa + 40º.
