Chem - Sala stampa - News - Nitricomax expands its production facilities in La Canonja (Spain)
The production would be entirely earmarked for the MAXAM Group companies, a Spanish corporation founded by Alfred Nobel in 1872, which nowadays operates in more than 50 countries across the five continents
Today, Nitricomax, S.L. (part of
MAXAM Chem, the nitro-chemical business unit of the
MAXAM Group) submitted its project for the expansion of its production facilities to the regional Government of Catalonia. The authorities will now take several weeks to examine the documentation in line with the established procedures.
Once the project is approved, the construction of the new facilities and the installation of the technical equipment will begin. Production in this extension of the existing Nitricomax facilities, located in the industrial park of La Canonja, and where nitric acid has been produced for more than 40 years, is scheduled to start in the first half of 2017.
The new facilities will house the production of a derivative of nitric acid which, like nitric acid, is used as a component of civil explosives utilized in the mining, quarrying and infrastructure construction sectors. With facilities in more than 50 countries across the five continents,
MAXAM ranks as the third leading company in the world in the civil explosives sector.
The new production chain investment will be made in various stages and could amount more than 10 M€. The number of direct and indirect jobs to be created will depend on the level of demand.
